- "Buddy Reading" with older students
- Apply the knowledge of the sounds, the sound-symbol relationship, and word recognition strategies to read grade-level materials
- Use of phonetic based program literature
- Expand reading, listening, and speaking voacabularies
- Compose various pieces of writing
- Cover all letter recognition and sounds. The Letter People are interactive friends of each letter of the alphabet to develop literacy, oral language, and social skills. Each letter person has a personality and song to help the children remember letter sound in a fun way.
- Read a wide variety of fiction, poetic, and nonfiction texts
Handwriting (Zaner-Bloser)
- Improve formation of letters and numbers.
- Space words and sentences appropriately
Spelling (McGraw-Hill)
- Pre-test on Monday
- Post test on Friday
- Weekly words that coorelate with literature stories, and match the phonics studied in that lesson
