Home and School Meeting Minutes

  • March Minutes
  • Dear Families,

St. Joseph School is proud to have a Home and School Association.  The mission of the Home and School Association has been defined as:

The mission of the St. Joseph Home and School Association is to promote communication and to provide information and support among the school community, which includes parents, students, school faculty and administration.  We will work together to provide volunteers and financial resources to foster the growth and development of a strong school community committed to the highest standards of Catholic education for our children.

The Home and School meetings will include discussion of school happenings, fundraiser updates, and volunteer opportunities.  The meetings will provide an opportunity for socializing and refreshments.  Again this year, Dr. Steve Kahn, Ph.D., L.P. will bring his expertise and knowledge as he speaks on issues pertinent to raising our children at home and in a Catholic school.

Home and School Association meetings are held on Wednesday evenings and typically begin at 7:00pm.  The meeting dates for the upcoming
    school year are as follows:

You will be reminded of Home and School meetings and discussion topics through the weekly school newsletter and through special flyers.  We want you to feel welcome to come, listen, and participate as you feel comfortable.  We look forward to seeing you at the meetings.

    More about Dr. Kahn

Dr. Kahn received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1978, specializing in children, adolescents and families.  He began working for private schools in 1981.  He provides counseling, alcohol and drug services, and psychological assessment and therapy to private schools.  He currently has two chemical health specialists and six master’s level counselors who help him at the various schools.  He is frequently asked to give talks to teachers and parents on topics related to the challenges of everyday parenting.  He enjoys public speaking and describes himself as “something of a ham”.  While what he talks about is important, he can usually manage to bring a light touch to his talks and help us remember to laugh at ourselves along the way.

Dr. Kahn and Associates are with St. Joe’s as on-site consultants.  He is here for individuals, groups, teachers, classrooms, parents and families of St. Joe’s.
