Venezuela Mission
As we live our lives as Catholics, we are also Christians meaning that we follow the examples of how to live and to love. These given to us by the very Son of God, Jesus the Christ. Living fully means that we live every day with compassion for others in need of food, clothing, shelter, healing, and freedom. Those who "have" are to share with those who " have not". This is the church teaching- to be in solidarity with all in the world through charity, prayer, and activism.

Our parish of Saint Joseph has accepted an opportunity which can only be described as guidance from the Holy Spirit to engage ourselves with the 75,000 members of the parish- Jesucristu Recusitado- in the poverty city of San Felix, Venezuela. Uneducated, unskilled, and unemployed people constantly come from the rural areas and jungle to the parish seeking a future. The parish is both the spiritual home and a social service center. The needs are for feeding children, providing educational opportunities, housing and economic opportunity. The members of our parish have sent forth parishioners, funding, and supplies to that parish and the local bishop. The spirit we show and the assistance we give are from our understanding of our relationship with God. All parish members are also members of the committee for Venezuela. The goodness of our members and the Light of Christ shines in the darkness of poverty.
